poets don't need to find an agent; actually, it's very hard for a poet to find an agent. usually you have to be a veteran to get one. poetry books just don't seem to generate enough profit for agents or publishers to be interested in it anymore. sad, isn't it??

i recommend picking up the book, "Poet's Market" it's very helpful in getting you started publishing individual pieces. also, go to the library or a bookstore and check out the publisher's who are in fact publishing books of poetry, this way you won't waste your time sending manuscripts to publisher's who aren't interested in poetry.
