Real literary agents don't:

1. Charge fees to read your stuff
2. Charge upfront fees for anything else (like promotion)
3. Advertise
4. Charge more than 25% for sales (and hopefully less)
5. Fail to say what books they've successfully agented.
6. Hide their addresses and phone numbers.
