They have been treating writers like dirt for a long time. These days, literary agents are only interested in representing known money-making authors. Basically, they are telling all other aspiring authors to go away. I guess they want new authors to self-publish, and then, if they start making any money, they will swoop in and pick them up (to make money off of them). Face it, folks, it's all about the money and nothing else.
