: I've heard the way to get an agent is to learn how to write a good query letter. So, what is a "good" query letter?

Do a search on Google for "How to Write a Query Letter." You will be amazed at the number of hits you get. Most of them simply say be straightforward and tell the agent about yourself and about your book. Beyond that, there is a myriad of conflicting advice. In the end, a "good" one ends up being "whatever works." There are some examples on the internet of some query letters that worked. As you will see, they are not at all alike.
