: Anybody read Thom Hartmann's new book, The Crash of 2016?

I saw Hartmann on Book TV talking about this book. He says the current (becoming permanent) weak US economy goes back to policies instituted by Reagan, the same sort of policies instituted by his conservative predecessor, Herbert Hoover, policies that caused the great depression back on the 1920s and 30s; that is, deregulation, waging foreign wars, decreasing taxes on the rich, and a so-called fiscal responsibility policy (which sounds good when you are running for office, but is not responsive to economic changes). Add to that the shipping of jobs out to other countries and you end up with today's situation, a situation in which everybody in the family has to work just to keep your family out of debt. (It also keeps people struggling so they don't have time to protest, and they don't dare complain about all the money going to the top one percent because they are afraid of losing what little they have.)
