Some might say the emperor is gone so let's bury him and forget about him. But in this case, Bush made so many destructive changes to our society, we SHOULD be debating them for a long time. I voted for Bush the first time despite his bumbling performances at debate and his apparent underhanded way of using his papa's influence to avoid going to Vietnam. I thought he was just a regular guy, very much not like Clinton who had disappointed me. But it didn't take me long to realize I had made a mistake. We need to limit Presidential power in case we ever get another evil bunch like the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld in power again.
: Jay's comments about the Bush/Rumsfeld/Cheney bunch developing a huge military machine by creating world-wide terrorist force against us are right on.
: It is true, Bush was successful at created a budget-busting monster military machine by getting us involved in two no-win wars, but he was also successful here at home. In only eight years, he manged to wipe out most of our freedoms by creating nearly unlimited Presidential power (protected by stacking the Supreme Court with non-thinking right-wing robots). He was amazingly successful at transferred most of the money and power to the rich elite (and destroying the middle class, in the process). He also completed the deregulation process started by Reagan, thereby wiping out any hope of controlling the big banks and employee-hating corporations.
: Oh, and along the way he also managed to destroy the U.S. economy. No other President has even come close achieving his complete agenda in one term of office.
