"Futures for Her" by Katherine Haake is an amazing story. No other word for it. It starts with an important moment for the child (the rabbit) and then the story winds its way through her evolving life, and through the strange, futuristic world she lives in. I started to read it, and then realized I was reading it too fast. I started reading it over again, and once I figured out the proper reading rhythm, it went quite smoothly. You have to let yourself go with the perceptions of the child, learning about the world of the story as she learns about it. It really is masterful writing.
