: : : : Having read three of Dr. Murdock's novels (and currently getting started on a fourth (Crueltown), I'm always checking his author page at Amazon to see what's new. Turns out he now has a new book out writing fiction, "How to Write Fiction: Tools and Techniques." I immediately downloaded it to my Kindle. Right from the first page, I could see it was unlike any other book I'd ever seen on fiction writing. He creates short stories, pointing out the writing techniques used as the story evolves. What a great way to teach writing!
: : : Already ordered it. Looking forward to reading it.
: : Got it. Read it. What a great book! Unlike any book on writing I've ever read. The author really lays out how to write a story, step by step, technique by technique. Who says you can't teach creative writing.
: Sounds great, but I heard you can't actually teach anybody how to write fiction, especially not in a book.
I used to agree that you can't teach anyone how to write fiction. But that was before I took Dr. Murdock's class. He can teach you how to write fiction, and he does. It's not an accident that he won his university's top teaching award (the teacher of the year award). He won the award over the other 2500 faculty at his California State University campus.
