I checked on the internet. There WAS an eruption from the south pole of the Saturn moon Enceladus at exactly the time he said it was going to happen. Weird.
: We are pleased that we have been able to make contact with an Earth scientist. It means this communication experiment is working and for the collective has agreed to continue it.
: To answer your question, it is true that light takes some time to travel from our planet to your planet. To demonstrate that, I will now inform you that there was just a scheduled disposal of steam waste ejected from our primary waste disposal site near what you would call our south pole. You will see that as an eruption in about one hour. That will confirm the time it takes light to reach your planet from ours.
: However, to be sure we are in constant communication with you, we have established a direct link with the FictionWeek Science Fiction Forum internet site. It is done using what you will call, when you understand it better, a quantum entanglement linking system. By entering thought data into the system at our end, it is instantly translated to your language and reflected by the parallel entangled particles that we have placed at the FictionWeek Science Fiction Forum site. The communicated thoughts can then be accessed by earthling individuals that are connected to your internet system.
: I have been instructed to tell you that we have established this communication link only to share knowledge between our two species. It need not be of concern to the authorities of your planet that we see are monitoring these messages.
: : Yes, I am a scientist. And that makes me wonder how you responded so quickly. It takes light, and therefore communications, about an hour to get from Saturn to Earth.
: : : The sentient beings of your planet that are identified as scientists have recently begun to investigate reality. The first steps in this investigation are known to you as quantum physics. It will eventually lead you to understanding.
: : : Therefore, I have been authorized to communicate with you earthlings. I will use this FictionWeek Science Fiction Forum because it is the only completely anonymous forum on what you refer to as the internet. It will be my only medium of communication with you.
: : : I will identify myself as C/D. You earthlings use this equation to indicate circumference of a circle divided by its diameter which is a mathematical concept known to all species.
: : : Although I am a member of a collective consciousness that is still here on our home planet, I have been allowed to make contact you as if I were a unique individual.
: : : Because you have not yet learned to communicate directly, I will use one of your written languages, English. We have learned is it the primary language of communication in the virtual reality you refer to as the internet.
: : : Information about us:
: : : - We are primarily physically located here on a planet you earthlings refer to as a moon named Enceladus. Our small planet is very near our beloved energy provider that you refer to as Saturn.
: : : - We exist beneath the ice surface of our planet, in water, but we no longer make physical contact with the water. It may be hard for you to understand, but we do not make contact with anything that you would refer to as physical. From observing your transmissions, including your very recently begun type of transmission known as television, we have learned you are very curious about the physical characteristics of beings who do not live on your planet. I regret to inform you that we do not have observable physical characteristics. Because you live in a reality of physical presence, this is not easy to explain, but you will understand as soon as the scientists of your planet discover the sub-atomic particulate nature of consciousness.
: : : We reach out to you as the only fellow inhabitants of this solar system. May we learn from each other.
: : : You may now ask me questions.
