I am a new runner so I got a lot of side aches at the beginning of the season. I tried not to let it get to me and run though it. But after awhile they would start to hurt a lot worse than before. Even to the point of stopping during regular practice.
I finally asked my coach about what exactly to do about them. After 2 weeks or so I found a different breathing routine. And it seems to help a lot. I haven't gotten the side stitch since. What I did was slow down my breathing and not to try to control it to much... just relax and take slow breaths. Just make sure that you breath enough! It seems to work wonderfully so you might want to try it.
